“Breaking The Fourth Wall” of Disney+’s WandaVision series is the overall best intended combination of genres in an episode thus far! This theory busting chapter has not only answered my question of whether mutants or magic were in charge, but also brought the connection to Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness clearly into view. The many angled clues were multi-layered metaphors causing more questions & uncertainty. This was purposefully done to give the viewer a sense of the increasing chaos that will occur throughout the rest of this show’s classic first season and beyond. The expected fallout will affect the entire spectrum of The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Terrestrial/Geo-Political, Magical/Sorcery, Extraterrestrial/Cosmic, and Temporal/Quantum/Multiverse. I am utterly amazed at how much of the Marvel mythos & lore has been hinted at so far. I am even more in awe of how the threads of this story have been sewn together so well that by the end of this chapter, a quilt worthy of a bonfire with sacred song & dance could be laid at the feet of any teller of tales.

The effort to convey this superhuman soap opera should not be taken lightly. I created way to go through each episode that I called a “rundown”. However, the level of revelations in this episode would make the article bottom heavy. Realizing that there are 6 connected sides (themes or lines) bringing this experience to life, I actually see the plot forming a hexagon in my mind. I believe that Wanda created The Westview Anomaly by attempting to recreate The Mind Stone and that it is somehow being used to channel energy (magical & otherwise) for some sort of portal, hence The Hexus Of All Realities title. Hopefully, I will have worked out the details enough by the end of this article. Based on what I saw in Ep. 7, there’s a lot to deliberate, so please let me explain.
The Confessional/Nexus Commercial

True to form, The WandaVision Show (finally confirmed to be created by Wanda herself) has evolved to its next sequential time period (2010s) which is depicted with a mixture of cinematography & screenwriting drawn from the popular sitcoms, The Office & Modern Family. The heightened sense of narcissism prevalent in American society is on full display with the opening scene displaying Wanda still in bed (wearing her Halloween costume from last episode) alone, full of regret for ‘letting her fear & anger get the best of her, and intentionally expanding the borders of the false world she created’, thereby increasing the amount of innocent people effected by her grief & selfishness. Her power is corrupt, but amusing. Typical of all children, Tommy & Billy Maximoff (Wanda’s twins) come in to her bedroom caring less about her still being in bed. They are fully dressed and their father Vision is missing, giving me the impression that they can take care of themselves but crave their mother’s attention. They’re focused on the fact that their video game controllers are devolving into older versions of gaming. Hiding under her interwoven hexagon print comforter, Wanda ignores Billy’s complaint of the noises in his head. The boys fight over the fact Tommy is always first in everything. Their powers continue to grow but are not exhibited at all in this part of the story.

As she bypasses her cantankerous pair of mystical mutants to feed herself, Wanda opens the refrigerator door giving us a view of what’s inside. Along with the obvious product placement from Disney, we see a WandaVision Prop Master placement on the top shelf: The Kane Cola can! In my Episode 6 article, I drafted every possible ‘scenario of significance’ from the shotgunning scene with Pietro & the twins using this same fictional brand of lemon-lime soda. I shared my ideas ranging from Kane & Abel (twins), to the Weapon Plus/X program, to AIM, to a myriad of connections to Southeast Asia (leaving out the island of Madripoor at the time). We can clearly see the front label is meant to clue us in. We know Marvel tends to take the simplified path to be as inclusive as possible for those who enjoy easter egg hunting. Kane Mountain is part of The Adirondacks, the comic book home of Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S., and the North American home of Victor Von Doom. I have previously hypothesized that the loop on the toaster in the ToastMate 2000 commercial (Ep.1) was an clue for multiple things, including the continuing presence of Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S in Phase 4 after Loki destroyed its facility in The Mojave Desert (The coordinates on a screen targeting Wanda with the drone missile strike (Ep. 5) were said to be for The Mojave) in Avengers. What if the manufacturing company for the beverage is somehow used to cover & fund something nefarious? That’d be really cool! Seeing as how some of my sleuthing can be intense, I will leave this right here to cool out for a while. We are delving deep so you may want to stop here if you’re the type that wants every insight spoon fed to you.

Speaking of spoon fed, Wanda pulls a bottle of almond milk out of the fridge while listening to her morning show in the background. RJ from WNDA (a hilarious easter egg if you’re aware of Marvel Studios’ extreme privacy policies) seems to be speaking directly to Wanda. While her almond milk is glitching & devolving into previous versions of household milk, Wanda pulls a box of Sugar Snaps cereal out of the cabinet. As the bottle turns into a dairy milk carton before stopping at the old glass jar from the 50’s, RJ’s line, “I hope your little ghosts arrived home safe last night” coincides with us seeing a missing child on the back of the carton. I believe this is foreshadowing the boys (namely Billy) going missing later on in the show, and Vision not coming home last night. Remember that they are “ghosts” in a sense. An interesting line about the ‘kids being out and about once a year’ goes unnoticed. The Sugar Snaps are referring back to Thanos’ snap. I think Wanda and I share an aversion to clowns because they seem to represent people she doesn’t like. LOL. There is a maze on the back of the cereal box which is also normal for products from this time period but I think it’s probably alluding to a maze or labyrinth we will come to see; maybe in finding the twins. Wanda puts the spoon in her mouth and tells us she isn’t sure why her powers are selectively reverting things. Exit scene and enter “The Office” style intro to The WandaVision Show.

Note: Billy actually broke the fourth wall in Ep. 6. I believe the title “Breaking the Fourth Wall” is significant here because Director Hayward makes it clear that the signal from The WandaVision Show (in the show) has stopped. This means that Wanda is exclusively broadcasting to our reality in this episode.

Wanda continues to spiral out of control, showing dysfunction between she and Vision not coming home last night. She makes it clear for all that Pietro is not her brother. Like Tommy, we all want to know who he is. She has no answers for the twins and tells them as such; depression is setting in. Agnes shows up, in the nick of time as usual, suggesting that she take the kids for a while (or permanently; who knows) much to Wanda’s acceptance. Acceptance is the last stage of death, so I knew something was wrong right here. Wanda ushers the kids away. Agnes promises not to bite them but admits that she bit a kid once. What if Agnes becomes a vampire or turns into her (Agatha’s) cat, Ebony from the comics? Either would suit me fine but I think the “Ebony” route is best. As thing get worse at home, Wanda continues to insist that she is fine even though it’s obvious she’s not. At this point Wanda’s whole house begins to revert into older versions of itself. The electrical sound effects get louder making it seem like she is attached to a machine; inside a virtual reality. Are we seeing avatars of Wanda & Vision when the show is broadcasting? Wanda doesn’t know what going on, and neither do I for that matter. She says she doesn’t understand why she can’t fix it. I think it’s the same reason why Vision can’t seem to leave Westview. A voice comes out of Wanda’s confessional asking her if she thinks that she deserves what’s happening. This shocks Wanda and causes her to shut down. As usual, when Wanda shuts down, we get a commercial…

The Nexus commercial is metaphorical brilliance! I would love to know the story behind its inception. This is the inspiration for me coining the term “The Hexus”. In order to see this the way I do, we will need to refer back to certain scenes in the DS (Doctor Strange) movie and AOU (Avengers: Age of Ultron). There is a underlying symmetry between Wanda & Vis I need to share. First off let me say that I believe that both characters are nexus beings; ambiguously when speaking about Vision. When Ultron tried to “kill” J.AR.V.I.S., Vision’s protocol program (in sentient beings the program would be considered the Freudian version of The Id) in AOU, the AI retreated into The NEXUS World Internet Hub stationed in Oslo, Norway. As Bruce Banner describes, “every byte of data (in the world) flows through there…fastest access on Earth”. This would be Vision’s (and Ultron’s) version of The Nexus of All Realities, a cross-dimensional gateway which provides a pathway to any and all possible realities. If Marvel chooses to exclude him from the list of Nexus Beings (keystone sentient being throughout the entire Multiverse) in the MCU. You may be asking what does Vision’s programming have to do with Wanda’s Chaos Magic? Well, in DS, The Ancient One explains it to Stephen Strange like this:
“At the root of existence… mind and matter meet. Thoughts shape reality. The language of the mystic arts is as old as civilization. The sorcerers of antiquity called the use of this language “spells”. But if that word offends your modern sensibilities you can call it a program. The source code that shapes reality.”

Magic is just science we don’t understand yet, right? Marvel has been laying the ground work to marry the two concepts and they’ve done it in WandaVision; and this Nexus commercial specifically. Wanda Maximoff, Loki and the upcoming Nathaniel Richards (Kang The Conqueror) are surely considered constants throughout The Multiverse. In the MCU, this commercial is clearly alluding to Wanda being one of the Nexi, but I think it’s also speaking about Vision:

“Feeling depressed? Like the world goes on without you? Do you just want to be left alone? Ask your doctor about Nexus. A unique anti-depressant that works to anchor you back to your reality…or the reality of your choice. Side effects include feeling your feelings, confronting your truth, seizing your destiny, and possibly, more depression. You should not take Nexus unless your doctor has cleared you to move on with your life. Nexus… because the world doesn’t revolve around you; or does it?
Beautiful symmetry. Vision is a living program (spell) and Wanda is a spell caster (witch) programmed to do what exactly? This is the conundrum that keeps all theories about the plot at bay (unless you already know what’s going to happen and that doesn’t count because it’s cheating).

The end of the confessional thread ends with Agnes in her home along with Tommy & Billy. Agnes seems to be very interested in Billy’s thoughts. He hears nothing from Agnes’ mind or spirit and the silence pleases him. While ‘Auntie A’ comforts the twins’ we don’t realize that Agnes has begun to take over The WandaVision Show. She mentions that Ralph (her husband) says she likes to sugarcoat things (like her true appearance). I am still at a loss for who Evan Peters is, but I do still think that “Ralph” is Mephisto. Do you see the metaphors and easter eggs I’ve shared so far? Do you agree or disagree? There’s nothing but space and opportunity in the comment section.
When Vision Met Darcy

Vision is back again, in pristine condition. Resurrected for the third time, he awakens to realize that the SWORD agents he was trying to reach for help have been turned into a traveling circus show; nice job Wanda. Agent Monti, Director Hayward’s goon that left Darcy handcuffed to a truck in order to save his himself from the expanding Hexus, has been turn into a strongman. He is wearing an S on his belt that could be an easter egg for The Sentry but I just think it’s a similarity. Darcy is still chained to a vehicle, but as the circus’ escape artist. Mistaken for the new clown, Vis is left to meet Darcy. The comedic chemistry between these two is great. It is hard to describe the hilarious ambiguity of Vision trying to talk to Darcy; unless you’ve watched “clowns” try to pick up women before. LOL. Darcy’s costume shows off her shape where she has never been shown in this light in the MCU before. I am wondering if it was just to make the scene pop more or if this is to symbolize that her crossing the Hex field has change her in some way. Will Darcy become an enhanced? She mistakes Vis’ sophomoric self-introduction as an advance and walks away. I laugh every time I see this scene.

Vision pursues Darcy. After freeing her mind from the Hex spell or program (you see where I’m going?), the two make a getaway in a funnel cake van but not before Darcy gets to righteously punch the strong man in the face and put him on his butt. As Vision asks if his children are safe and who the imposter Pietro is, Darcy has no answer to those two questions but finds the key to their escape vehicle under a bobbling Hawaiian girl ornament’s grass skirt. Is this foreshadowing something or another Marvel Manchild gone wrong moment? As they leave, Vision cleverly says he and Darcy were double-booked by the agents. I thought that was another sign of great writing.

By the time we get back to these two, Darcy has explained The Vision’s history to Vision. This is a mind bending situation. Vision begins to understand. Killing him, then having to watch him die again by the hands of Thanos and being snapped has traumatized Wanda. In trying to understand his wife he begins to ask the right questions about himself. Rationalizing that he comes from JARVIS’ code (Id), Ultron’s consciousness (Ego; 42% of it), he asks, “What am I now?”. I expect a very profound answer to this before season’s end. Darcy expresses her belief that the love between Wanda & Vis is real and dangles the other mystery…Why Vision can’t leave the Hexus without dying? Is Vision’s body powering the Hexus or somehow connected to it? Do the mystical properties of vibranium have something to do with his imprisonment or potential for that matter? Vision breaks the fourth wall along with Darcy but his interview scenes are more personal. He is convinced Wanda is attempting to prevent him from coming home due to random road blocks and children crossings, but I’m not convinced it’s Wanda who doesn’t want Vision going home. Vision ultimately leaves Darcy at the crossroads, phasing and flying toward Wanda without a word. This is the last we see of him this episode.
CATARACT equals Cloudy Vision

This episode picks up with Monica Rambeau and Jimmy Woo headed toward “Monica’s guy” that is supposed to be helping her get back into the Hexus. On the way, we get answers about Darcy’s findings from hacking Hayward’s files. The previously mentioned CATARACT, Weapons Intel files seem to be about Vision. We see a diagram of Vision’s body and watch Monica & Jimmy conclude that Hayward was the one violating Vision’s Last Will & Testament by trying to make him a weapon. Nothing worked until Wanda took Vision away from SWORD; or did she? This is clearly a foreshadow that White Vision was part of the plan. I am guessing that we will see him (or her; don’t forget about my Jocasta theory). I just hope that it isn’t the last we see of Vision (meaning his ghost). Expect this short scene to play a major part in the show finale.
The Big Letdown/The Origin of Photon

Right out of the woods, into a clearing Monica finds her backup. I was rightfully expecting to immediately see a key character in the role of Aerospace Engineer. Instead Monica is greeted by Air Force commander, Major Goodner. This was the first big letdown I had until I realized that I saw a SWORD logo on Monica’s phone when she was told where to rendezvous. I can believe that Goodner is a Aerospace Engineer. I can also see the connection between The Air Force & SWORD. However, I refuse to believe that Marvel set that character up the way they did for it to be a no name character that is only in that scene and then gone from the rest of the series. I still expect to see the big brains behind the scene this season…and it isn’t Major Goodner, God bless her heart.

Major Goodner clearly speaks as if she is not alone in what ‘they have’ for Monica. The Hex Tank is beautiful. It is a 6 wheel Space Rover that looks like it belongs in a crash derby on Mars. Monica gets suited & booted. Determined to save Wanda, Darcy and the rest of Westview, the true heroine of WandaVision boards her vehicle with a foreshadowing “Godspeed.” from Jimmy Woo. Monica is about to get ‘god speed’ all right! Monica rams the tank into the Hexus wall. Goodner seems less and less like an aerospace engineer when Jimmy has to explain that the energy field is not only matching the density of the vehicle, but rewriting it’s reality. The Hexus acts like a sentient being for the first time by basically chewing the tank up and spitting it out. Half of the frame has been altered. This is the second big letdown.

Having succeeded before, Monica is determined and convinced that she can get back into the Hexus. She pushes through the field and we see multiple versions of her struggling to make it out of the other side in a beautiful display of light. Once through, we know she is changed. Voices of her mother, Maria, Jimmy Woo, Dr. Harley, her “Auntie Carol” & Nick Fury help her make it. Her eyes become bright blue and her point of view is remarkable. When looking through Monica’s eyes we see her perception of the electromagnetic spectrum. The waves from the electric lines look like spiders to me; easter egg! Whether it be a nod to Monica’s first appearance being in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16 (1982), some form of spider-sense or a sign that we may see her in the newly titled, Spider-Man: No Way Home, I see the connection. (Pun king! LOL) Monica runs to confront Wanda. By Wanda’s reaction to Monica’s arrival back in her house, I don’t think The Hex wall is solely Wanda’s construct. How did she not know Monica made it through? Monica clearly states that this whole thing is about Vision. Wanda doesn’t listen (and neither do the majority of viewers). She blames Monica for what SWORD did to Vision, the drone missile strike and the fake Pietro. Wanda tries to throw Monica around like she did before but “Monie Love got a new thang”. LOL. Monica’s energy absorption seems to be the first of her incredible power set to kick in. Deflecting Wanda’s attack, Monica performs her first 3 point superhero landing. Her powers are depicted like energy bangles around her limbs. I think it’s ingenious. The look on Wanda’s face is priceless. It reminds me of a bully that realizes they picked the wrong one to harass. Monica shows a little “Sista Souljah” when she pushes back against Wanda’s accusations. Monica has almost gotten through to Wanda, who is on the fence about whether she is good or evil. Agnes intervenes and takes Wanda into Casa de Harkness.

Dennis, The Delivery Man is wearing a cap with a rabbit on it. His uniform says Presto, which is a generic word for magic. This is a clue that Agnes’ rabbit, Señor Scratchy is more than meets the eye. Monica refuses to give up, and looks to see if she can find Wanda inside the house. Monica opens the cellar doors to vines & roots giving off a purple energy. This shakes my whole thought process about the plot. As she is about to go into the basement, Pietro surprises her and says: “Snoopers gonna snoop”. The show ends on this cliffhanger. The only other living being unaccounted for in Agnes’ house was Señor Scratchy which narrows it down for me. I think Evans Peters is actually playing Agatha Harkness’ son, Nicholas Scratch. (But wait there’s more!)
Agatha All Along

The pièce de résistance of the show. The curtain call. The show stopper. After Agnes takes Wanda into her house, sits her down and goes to the kitchen, Wanda realizes her boys are missing. They were supposed to be there with Agnes. Wanda asks Agnes where they are and gets pointed to the basement. We see two glasses, two half eaten sandwiches, Señor Scratchy in his cage, a cicada crawling on the curtains with characters from Yo Gabba Gabba! singing, “jump” over and over. This along with the impending danger music lets me know that Wanda is being urged to do something drastic. She goes downstairs looking and calling for the boys. It’s dark. It looks like there’s dried blood on on hanging plastic. There’s a hallway covered in vines & roots. The walls are stone and the decor is medieval. As Wanda enters the clearing we see Agnes has a whole temple of the occult. It looks older than Westview itself. Out of all the symbols on the walls, the giant bat wings, the skulls & bones, there is one item that shakes the core of every idea I had in my head.

A leather book covered with a metal lock giving of orange energy stops Wanda in her tracks. I don’t know if the energy is supposed to be giving off hell fire, but what I do know is there are only two books that come to my mind. Out of those two books, one makes more sense than the other. This book is looks like The Necronomicon, also known as The Book of The Dead. This is no light admission. It doesn’t change my belief that Mephisto is somewhere in this storyarc between WandaVision & (MOM) Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness. “The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world that he did not exist”. We know that Jimmy Woo found Westview because of a informant that “doesn’t exist”. Agnes speaks of a husband whose existence has yet to be proven. There are too many signs that Meph Man is at work here, but this book changes the gamut. It adds another dimension (or two) and more demons to the equation. The Necronomicon is a fictional book created by H.P. Lovecraft that spawned a legend that took on a life of its own. My mind is blown knowing that Lovecraft is going to play a big part of MOM. Johnathan Majors (Kang) just had a hit series on HBO drawing from the same horror story inspirations and I love it! Thoughts of Shuma Gorath, the sorcerer Cagliostro, Chthon & Dormmamu are circling in my mind. Agnes closes the door (with Señor Scratchy in arms) behind Wanda and reveals that she is the witch, Agatha Harkness! OMG! Finally!

Agatha’s eyes turn purple (which is a color attributed to Shuma Gorath). She conjures a spell that gives Wanda a vision of all the things that have been happening behind the scenes of The WandaVision Show. Agatha’s theme music is brilliantly similar to The Adams Family theme song. We see Agatha land on Wanda’s street corner and change from witch to neighbor for Ep.1. Agatha is behind the mishaps at the magic show in Ep.2. She casted a spell on Herb in Ep. 3. She’s behind “Pietro” showing up on Wanda’s door step in Ep. 5. She faked being under the hex to trick Vision into rushing out of The Hexus for help. I knew Wanda was the star of the show and maybe even the director but Agatha seems to have been the showrunner all along! To add insult to injury, she lets us know how evil she is by admitting that she killed the twin’s dog Sparky; just like a thought! (She loves feeding leaves to animals! LOL)

I feel like Wanda right now. I have no answers. I can’t wait to watch Episode 8. What do you think? Are we finally going to see White Vision? Will it be a her (as in JOCASTA)? Which demons are at play right now? Is Evan Peters really Nicholas Scratch? Where is Ralph? Is he Mephisto? Is that book The Necronomicon? I think so! Doctor Strange had it in his library in the comics and there was a book missing from the Ancient One’s forbidden books in the movie. It would be a clean band seamless retcon. Or maybe I’m wrong and it’s The Darkhold. That would make me happy because Chthon would be implied. I just don’t think that’s what we’re seeing here. Let me know what you think in the comments or on Twitter. Manchild out.
