Absolute Carnage

Absolute Carnage is a 2019 event run from Marvel Comics. The lead title series was written by Donny Cates. The artwork by Ryan “Venom Boy” Stegman is exceptional. The run itself consists of 30 issues with tie-ins from ongoing titles such as, The Amazing Spider-Man, Venom and an assorted collection of limited series runs and one-offs.The first title issue (Absolute Carnage #1) was rich with what would seem to be culminating tides of events multiplying into a tsunami of a blockbuster story. The Absolute Carnage run had many promising notes but never reached the climax that it actually promises. It took some time for the story to deliver on any such anticipation due to a disappointing and confusing chronological reading order provided by notes at the beginning of certain issues and a checklist in the back of only a few issues. There were a few “gems” throughout the story that make the whole worth reading. The avid collector has a limited choice of which single issues to buy (and even certify, if you’re into that kind of thing). I myself bought the whole series. As I develop this site with my family I will update posts and continue to tweak things that I believe will help everyone that loves a good story; from the beginning Marvel fan to the advanced reader and collector. As I am mainly sharing this post to meet a personal deadline, I will highlight the special issues from my point of view with a (*). Before I share a thorough synopsis and rating I will re-read the story using this order. This means that there may be more (or less) special issues marked once I am done. I used what I deem as ‘the true Marvel way‘ of reading comic books to arrange the order. I hope it helps those of you who met the same issues as I did.
